Provincetown - Cape Cod, Massachusetts

A boiling hot weekend with a visit to Provincetown, the remotest town on Cape Cod.

Provincetown (or "P-Town") is an eclectic collection of weird and wonderful shops. There is a huge monument called the Pilgrims' Tower which was built 1907-1910 to honour the Pilgrims' first landing in Provincetown before they moved on to sail to Plymouth Rock five weeks later. The Tower is 252ft tall.

To get to P-Town we drove over the Sagamore Bridge which is quite a structure built by the US Army 1933-1935. It spans the Cape Cod canal and replaced an older bridge which was not able to cope with the capacity required for either road or canal traffic. The Bridge has 135ft clearance above the water line and has 4 lanes for road traffic. See photo.
